I LOVE the Movers and Shapers die and the accessory dies that you can purchase to go along with them. This die of the ornament is in the current Holiday Mini Catalog. I wanted to make a box with the Movers and Shapers die, but knew that the end result would be a "too flat box", even Candy Kisses wouldn't be able to fit into it.
An AH-HA moment came upon me - I decided that all I needed to do was to add narrow extensions to the four sides of the BOX BOTTOM!
So here is what I did: I cut out the die with the movable ornament cutting piece in the middle. Then I cut the two pieces apart on the score line.
LID: I scored the ornament piece(to be the lid of the box) on all four sides at 3/4", and then cut the ends of the two opposite sides and assembled the lid as you normally would.
BOX BOTTOM: Next I cut off about 1/16" on two adjacent sides of the piece that was for the bottom (the other half of the die cut with no opening in it). Proceeded to score and assemble it just as I did the LID using 3/4" score lines.
EXTENSIONS: I cut two pieces of the same card stock at 3 3/4" x 1" and glued them to the inside long sides of the box bottom. I cut two pieces of the same card stock at 3 1/2" x 1" and SCORED each of them on both short ends at 1/2" so that they would glue perfectly into the inside of the short ends of the box bottom.
THERE YOU HAVE IT, A MOVERS AND SHAPERS BOX WITH EXTENSIONS! Hope you like this neat trick!
